Rock
St. Jude Catholic Church final location turned out to be a challenge. We had only dug a little way down and hit sold rock. Luckily, the grounds manager, George, said he could get a jack hammer and come back on another day and finish digging the hole for the post. He was a real life saver on that one. So we only had to wait a few days before installing the library.
Missed an approval
Although the district administrators and the school principals and school librarians gave their approvals, there was one level of approval I missed. That was the operations/grounds manager. After the libraries were finished and even one had been placed at Lyndsey Elementary, the operations manager put the brakes on because he had not been consulted. He had to investigate everything and even said he might have to remove the library that had been placed. He wanted to make sure the placement was not in the way of something, that the wood used was non toxic, etc. So Lyndsey was installed in May but I couldn’t install Boyd’s until weeks later.
